Big Fucking Update
08.05.05 (8:58 pm) [edit]
Well, I haven't really updated this blog in a while, I though I'd list some things I've done over the past few months worthy of mention.
*Saw Mindless Self Indulgence Live
*Met Jhonen Vasquez
*Saw Aesop Rock, Mike Relm (amazing dj), Mr. Lif, Cage, Yakballs, and El-P Live
*Met MURS, Yakballs, Mike Relm, and Cage at said concert
*Started taking College Prep Art classes
*Had my 16th birthday
Besides that Summer has been moving very past, and it's been very good to me. This last week was pretty cool. It all started on monday...
I went to art class around 4:30, brought Niv his cd, and left around 6:30. Got back to the house and Serina called me up. She had picked up Jason from the airport earlier and they came by for the night. We all hung out and watched Wild Zero. Jake stopped by, and while we were down the street, I saw a license plate that read "WU4EVER" which I found so amazing that I managed to drop half my change. Then I broke a sandal. Jason, Serina, and Serina's friend Melanie left that night around 12am for San Francisco.
Tuesday: I woke up around 12:40 to my phone ringing, Anthony called me and asked me to hang with him and Phil. I took a shower and headed to Phil's. We played some videogames, ate, and then Anthony left. Phil and I discussed Hip Hop and made some plans to work on some beats and rhymes friday night. I went home and hung out for the rest of the night.
Wednesday: Serina called me and woke me around 12. She asked if I could "babysit" Jason for the day, and I agreed to. Jason came by around 1:30, and we talked about San Francisco. Apparently things hadn't been so swell, and he hadn't quite slept in more than 24 hours. We went to Jacob's house where we ate Goat Cheese pizza (horrid) and surfed the web. We walked around for a while, made a stop at Courtney's and then back to Ben's where we ordered a couple large Pizzas. We grubbed and chilled at Evan's with Dillon for the rest of the night.
Thursday: We woke up and got out of Evan's house before his dad got back. As soon as Jason and I got back to my house, Serina and Zack picked us up. We drove around for a while, went to the Santa Monica Pier and ended up at the airport around 4pm to drop off Jason. Zack actually had to be home around 5pm, which made things hectic. The 405 was bumper to bumper and we ended up taking PCH to topanga. Serina drove quite fast, yet we ended up 45 minutes late. Serina and I hung out for a while and I decided, on a whim, to ask her out. We sat in the car for a while and talked, then we stopped at Ben's. We drove around and went to Knapp park to watch the skaters for a while. The park closed around 9:30 and we dropped Ben off. I asked her on the way home, and ended up getting turned down javascript:emoticon(':(') We talked for a while and kind of worked things out. I'm not dissapointed and kind of glad things didn't go sour.
Friday: I woke up around 11am, my dad made me the first real breakfast I'd had in a while. Evan stopped by with his new driver's license. I got in the car and we drove around. I went home and ended up going to Anthony's house around 2pm. Things with Phil didn't work out, D:, and I went over to Ben's again around 8pm. We did some Whip Its which are equivalent to 30 seconds of pure bliss. Evan picked me up and we drove around, ate, and listened to music for an hour or so. I cleared my head while we were driving and looked at the stars. Convertibles are the best. Evan dropped me off around 11:50 and here I am feeling quite content with life. I'm going to see the Xgames tomorrow, I can't fucking wait.
And now here's Audrey... [image]djhabit_898087416.jpg[/image]

It's about 12:50 AM where I reside, I have to wake up in less than 6 hours. Yet here I am, wide awake. A Part of me wants to take advantage of my bad cough and stuffy nose and fake sick tomorrow, another knows that if I do my dad will be madder than fuck with me for the next week. I hate school. I hate how I prolonged reading my english book till 11:30 pm the night before I have to take an exam on it. I HATE the fact that I still have 3 months of school left. And I loath how fast this week went by, and how I accomplished nothing I wanted to accomplish. I know come summer, Evan and Serina will be gone, and I'll spend my days locked up inside with my copy of Fallout keeping me company. I know I'll hate myself for not getting my license early and being able to go out and actually visit my buddies in santa monica.
I know I'm very negative right now, and I'd like to state that I also hate that as well.
Well here's to the next 3 months, lets hope I survive doing the minimum, like always.
OH AND FUCK ECR FOR GIVING US AN EXTRA WEEK OF SCHOOL IN JUNE, THUS MAKING MY BIRTHDAY A SCHOOL DAY.
MOTHA FUCKAZ. _

CAL ARTS & USED CDs
01.06.05 (2:01 am) [edit]
A good friend of mine has a sister who happens to go to CAL ARTS (California Institute of the Arts). Yesterday, that said friend and his sister chose to drive me up to Valencia and give me a tour of the place. I brought Irish_Rebel along for the ride, I knew he'd get something out of it as well.
Anyway, we arrived at the school and stopped by the dorms before we ventured into what I would soon call "Mecca". As soon as we entered the main building I got a rush from just being inside the place I had heard so much about.
"Smell that? That's art."
XD
Our first stop was the animation department, where we checked out the many cublicles of the many artists that inhabit the animation department. The place was mostly empty, in fact the whole school was mostly empty because of the winter holiday and what not. The work some of these guys had was hilarious, sadly I hear the (hand drawn) animation department keeps getting smaller because of the increase in the use of CG.
We then walked around a little bit and saw the cafeteria, main hall, outside of the disney theatre, etc. NEXT STOP:SUB-LEVEL. Now you must understand, the sub-level of cal arts is in fact....art. The walls are LITERALLY covered in graffiti. And GET THIS, they actually allow it. Sure some look down upon it, but still it's basically w/e you want to do. I drew some stuff my self, some tags, comic characters, etc. I also wrote [link] in big letters, because it's only the greatest site in the HISTORY OF THE INTERWEB. No, but seriously go to Nugget Fuck and check out the Cartoons and the Forum. I'm an avid member of the forums and all the regulars are pretty cool. You can actually find the owner Miggelz on here at DA ([link]). BTW Nugget Fuck is currently down, it should be back up in a couple days.
After our sub-level adventure, we walked around a bit, then headed back to the dorms, and finally checked out the my friend's sister's studio. The studios were pretty big, you could live in them actually (although this is frowned upon, but still yeah it's another w/e thing).
Afterwards we headed home...and I proceeded to go to FYE and buy 12 used cds for 70$.
Some of the things I bought:
-Jurassic 5: Quality Control -Interpol: Turn On The Bright Lights -Sugar Ray: Floored -The Crystal Method: Tweekend -Mallrats Soundtrack -Boogie Down Productions: Sex & Violence (Cover art done by Robert Williams actually) -The Cranberries: Wake Up and Smell the Coffee -Dead Prez: RBG (I'm afraid to own this actually) -The Pogues: Waiting for Herb
Well, I must say I had a great time at Cal Arts, and am currently looking into going there for college. It would be an unforgettable experience I'm sure.

First off, this could be quite possibly one of the greatest games I've had the privelege to play (and own). Half Life 2 is simply a ground breaking game. The physics alone are fucking brilliant, the graphics are incredible on medium, and almost photorealistic on high, the gameplay will keep you coming back for more, and the characters you will interact with are the most life like I've seen in any game. The depth of this game is off the charts. Half Life 2 is a masterpiece.
On a down note, this will forever change how I look at games. Nothing will be quite as good sadly.
And now, its cram time.

Flogging Molly Last Friday!
10.26.04 (5:34 pm) [edit]
So I saw Flogging Molly last Friday with The Briggs, and The Street Dogs. The Briggs went on first, we arrived during their first or second song. They were great live, I enjoyed their set so much I bought a shirt. After the Briggs, my pal Evan and I went to the lobby for some water, and headed back to the stage quickly for The Street Dogs.
The Street Dogs were very enjoyable as well, but I liked The Briggs better. When The Street Dogs finished, PunkVoter.com had a short movie featuring a skit with Will Ferrell, some CNN footage, and Jello Biafra spoke in between and after footage to help further inform kids of the country's situation, and rep PunkVoter.com.
When Flogging Molly came on, the pit got hectic. I honestly can't remember the order in which songs were played. People were dancing, moshing, chanting...I felt bound with those around me by an aura of sweat and body heat. Molly was phenomenal, the energy was unstoppable, the crowd was full of cool people. One hell of a night.

Don't Got the Time...
10.14.04 (1:42 am) [edit]
Life's moving pretty fast. Can't say that's a bad thing, yet I've got a pretty full workload right now. I'm surprised I'm managing so well. HW seems like a breeze, yet I've gotten a few projects I've yet to do. Bleh, school. It's actually not that bad though, my day is long (7am to 3:15 pm) but for the most part I'm enjoying it. It no longer feels like last year in the sense that I'm happier and much more determined to succeed, but I still feel lonely, and at times its a downer, but I've got good friends, I just need to find that girl that suits me....
Alright, got to sleep, zero period.

Looking For a Good Webcomic...
10.10.04 (11:42 pm) [edit]
I need to get an external hard drive for my laptop, my HD has almost less than a gig of space on it. Yikes. I'm also looking for a new webcomic to read, since RPG World and Road Waffles are barely making comics right now. Any suggestions?
Finally got "Fever To Tell." I haven't enjoyed a cd this much for a while. Every song is fucking great.

Fanboyism At it's Best...
10.06.04 (11:53 pm) [edit]
I've taken on the task of watching the commentary for all of Kevin Smith's films (that I own)...including the cartoon.
Some interesting bits here and there, funny stuff too. So far I think the Dogma or Amy tracks are the best, I still have yet to hear the Mallrat's track, and I need to actually watch Jersey Girl.
The weekend was fun, I saw a couple local bands, slept in, and have nearly beaten Metal Gear Solid: VR Missions. Sadly life has fallen back into a daily pattern. I can't believe its already the 5th week back....damn. It feels too much like last year.
Hopefully something/someone will emerge that will fill this void.

You're cautious, a bit paranoid. You left the scene for the suburban married life, but somehow, trouble seems to follow you and piss on your mornings. You are quick to share your point of view, but have no problems with giving in to the requests of wives and wolves. Take the What Pulp Fiction Character Are You? quiz. |
